DTA Architects, led by Derek Tynan and Niall Rowan, is a design oriented practice with a commitment to and reputation for quality of architectural design and client service at all stages from initial brief definition, conceptual design, feasibility studies and master-planning, to the delivery of completed building projects.
This commitment is carried through both individual buildings and larger scale public projects and urban design. Unique experience and specific expertise is provided in the areas of high density residential design and typological innovation, master-planning and urban design.
A proven ability to deliver appropriate and sustainable design solutions for complex building programmes in challenging contexts underpins the work of the practice, as recognized in numerous RIAI, AAI, RTPI, IDI and other awards, including, uniquely, the RIAI Silver Medal for Housing on three occasions.
Current work includes purpose built student accommodation schemes in Dublin and Cork, an aparthotel in Dublin city centre, infill housing in Ranelagh and the repurposing of the former St. Luke’s Church Newmarket as offices. Recently completed projects include the refurbishment and extension, in three phases, of the former Montrose Hotel as student accommodation, a screening room for the IFCO, and an apartment development on a riverside site off Anglesea Road Ballsbridge.
